Sohar Health joins Zocdoc

We wrote the first cheque into Sohar Health in 2022 and led its pre-seed round, before there was a product and prior to  their participation in Y Combinator. Today Zocdoc announced it has acquired Sohar.

‍

The problem Sohar solves

In the US, finding out whether your insurance covers an appointment can be harder than booking it. Sohar automates insurance eligibility and benefits verification, so patients and providers know where they stand before the appointment rather than after it.

‍

Zocdoc chose Sohar as its insurance technology partner in early 2025. The acquisition, which was closed on 2 October 2026, builds on that relationship, and puts Sohar at the point of booking, where it matters most.

‍

“As a physician, it has always baffled me that at the moment people need care most, they have to face a gauntlet just to understand whether their insurance will cover it.”

Dr Ashish Mandavia, co-founder and CEO of Sohar Health.

‍

First believers

We met Ash and Lucas in 2022, when there was only an idea, and nothing to look at but the people. Ash was a physician who knew healthcare from the inside, whilst Lucas Gordon, his co-founder and CTO, had the technical depth to build what the market needed.

‍

Built quietly

Sohar has not done much shouting. Ash and Lucas built great technology and strong distribution among behavioural health, primary care and telehealth providers, including Talkiatry and Rula. They grew quickly and profitably, with their results speaking for them.

‍

They brought this same character to the exit. They handled it with integrity and real thought for everyone on the cap table, and the outcome reflects this. It is a strong result for Concept and our investors.

‍

What comes next

Sohar will keep its name, products, and customer relationships, bringing its technology to Zocdoc, the platform where patients across the US find and book care. Through Zocdoc, Sohar will now reach millions more patients and their providers.

‍

For us, it is a reminder of why we do this: the best outcomes start with someone believing in founders early.

‍

Congratulations, Ash and Lucas. We are proud to have written your first cheque.
